Who's Watching Our Films? Alternative Distribution Mapping Feedback

Forum
Filmmakers in Africa have a hard time reaching audiences. Traditional distribution models often have challenges connecting our stories with those who need to see them. The industry is riddled with gatekeepers and access to decision makers is limited. What can we do about it?We have started an initiative that will allow us to unlock both existing,  new and effective distribution pathways that ensure our stories reach the people they are meant for. We are mapping out alternative distribution avenues that extend beyond conventional routes to answer the questions:
  • Who is showing our films?
  • Which Networks can we work with?
  • Which partnerships will help us amplify our work to reach strategic audiences?
  • Which alternative venues or avenues can work as exhibition spaces?
Our goal is to create an open-source model that filmmakers can use to discover viable distribution partners across the continent. Would you like to be part of this initiative? We will be at this year's DFM and we  would like to meet you. We will also share a sample of the mapping we are putting together. Session in partnership with Doc Society - Climate Story Unit, CSL ZA, STEPS, DOCA, TUNGA Afrika.
